Koskie Minsky Co-Sponsors Day-Long Workshop on Challenges and Opportunities in Organizing Nonstandard Work
December 3, 2014
Koskie Minsky LLP co-sponsored a day-long workshop on challenges and opportunities in organizing nonstandard work on December 2, 2014 at the Osgoode Professional Develop Centre in Toronto. Representatives from trade unions, government and civil society organizations will come together for a day-long workshop examining current initiatives, practical innovations and policy options for organizing nonstandard work in Canada.
Over the past three years, there have been at least five major reports and commissions examining nonstandard work, with emphases in different sectors and aspects of work. Our workshop builds on earlier efforts to address major transformations in the Canadian labour market and industrial relations system. The conference is designed to present an overview of non-standard organizing initiatives with particular reference to Ontario and Québec, but examining other jurisdictions in Canada. It will also have a global perspective on the dramatic changes that are transforming the labour market and industrial relations practices in advanced industrial economies.
Koskie Minsky lawyers Elizabeth Mitchell, Andrea Bowker, Simon Archer, Kamal Bakhazi and Jesse Heath-Rawlings
will be participating in the conference.
